Maintaining Your Piece

All wood fades overtime. Even bright hues like those found in Padauk, Purpleheart, and Cedar will become less bright and vibrant eventually. They fade and settle into beautiful colors, but they are not necessarily what they originally looked like. I stain or treat all pieces to help prevent this as much as possible, but there are also a few things that you can do!

  • Avoid direct sunlight or exterior use unless specifically treated for this.

  • Although kitchen items are treated to be food-safe, they ARE NOT dishwasher-safe.

  • Re-oil cutting boards and spoons after every 5-10 washes.

  • Do NOT soak cutting boards or spoons. This can cause them to warp and crack.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals and cleaners. Even when cutting things like meat or fish, just use warm, soapy water.
